Mr. Jimmy (Jimbo) J. Merkison, Jr., age 60, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida. Services for Mr. Merkison will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 24, 2025, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 415 West Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, Georgia. The Rev. David Grubbs will officiate. Alan Killingsworth, Bryce Killingsworth, Jacob Mattice, Michael Harrell, Jordan Grubbs, and Eric Atkinson will serve as pallbearers. Ray Staples and Paul Merkison will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will be held in the Nazarene Cemetery.
Jimmy J. Merkison, Jr. was born November 6, 1965, in Bainbridge, Georgia to Jimmy J. Merkison, Sr. & Peggy Page Shirley Merkison. Jimbo was a fun guy, with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed camping, going to the beach & watching wrestling. He could be called, “the neighborhood watch”, because he kept his eyes out for what happened in his part of town. He adored fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, & D.Q. Blizzards. He had worked as a motor grader operator for Decatur County before his retirement & loved to do woodworking in his leisure time. Jimbo was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bainbridge. He enjoyed being outside grilling & smoking meat. He was a true fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. (3) & Jr. (88). Jimbo dearly loved his family, including his cats, Tigger & Charlotte. He will be deeply missed.

Shirley Merkison of Bainbridge, Georgia; children, Garrett Merkison (Brooke) of Cairo, Georgia, Roxanne Hyde (Jeremy) of Donalsonville, Georgia & Brooke Velasquez (Jose) of Cairo, Georgia; grandchildren, Mya Vickers, Levi Vickers, Alli Velasquez, and Wren Merkison; siblings, Billy Merkison of Bainbridge, Georgia, Paul Merkison (Donna) of Cedar Springs, Georgia, Page Merkison of Tallahassee, Florida; nieces & nephews, Rachel Merkison, Mary Brown (Darien), Michael Merkison (Skylar), Kristy Wooten (Josh), Paul Ashley Merkison, Jr., Alan Killingsworth (Mandy) & Bryce Killingsworth (Bethanie); a host of aunts & uncles; several great nieces & nephews; extended family, Edie Ward (Michael), Katelyn Ward (Jacob), Kinsey Ward, Cecil Kelley & Church Family.
Jimbo is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy J. Merkison, Sr.; sister, Kathy Killingsworth; brother-in-law, Mike Killingsworth; maternal & paternal grandparents & several aunts.
