Joe Cook

Joseph Isaiah Cook, 79, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Lown officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Cook was born June 28, 1936 in Cairo, GA, the son of Curtis Augustus Cook and Sophie Torrence Champion Cook. Joe was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, and served our country in the United States Army. He was a Manufacturing Representative for McEwen Cherry Co. in Nashville, TN, and worked in automotive sales for the entirety of his career. In his younger years, Joe enjoyed golfing with his wife and restoring clocks and watches. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Cook of Bainbridge, GA; his daughters, Cynthia Cook of Cocoa, FL, Christy Cato and her husband, David, of Warm Springs, GA, and Carole E. Cook of Atlanta, GA; his grandchildren, Hayden Bishop, Brett Bishop, Hayden Cato, Zocha Pomp and Miranda Pomp; his two great-grandchildren, Kylar Bishop and Gracie Bishop; a close sister-in-law, Betty Thompson Cook of Waycross, GA and numerous extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers and five sisters. The family would like to give a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and their staff, especially Kathleen and Alecia, for their care and support.
