Mr. Joe Garey Taylor died Monday, January 17, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Services will be Thursday, January 20, 3:00 p.m., at Cox-Ware Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Andy Anderson and the Rev. C. Elsworth Davis will officiate. Shane Hoskins, Shawn Hoskins, Sheldon Hoskins, Joey Taylor, Justin Wilkerson, and Jordan Wilkerson will serve as pallbearers. Gunner Wisham, Grant Wisham and A.J. Taylor will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Vada, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cox-Ware Funeral Home. Joe Garey Taylor was born in Fountain, Florida, December 23, 1944, to Daniel Allen and Pearl Dixon Taylor. On August 28, 1965, he married Violet Wingate. They moved from Clearwater, Florida to this part of Georgia about 44 years ago. Joe was a heavy equipment operator for the Georgia Department of Transportation. Joe Garey Taylor is survived by his wife, Violet Wingate Taylor of Colquitt, Georgia; children: Joseph J. Taylor and wife, Teresa, of Donalsonville, Georgia, Jenny L. Wisham and husband, Ronald, of Vada, Georgia, Jeannie L. Wilkerson of Bainbridge, Georgia, Jeremy J. Taylor and wife, Brandi, of Bainbridge, Georgia and Joshua B. Taylor of Bainbridge, Georgia; sisters, Dorothy Finch of Fountain, Florida and Linda Davis and husband, Roy, of Compass Lake, Florida; 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, James J. Taylor and sisters, Flora Hendrix, Edna Bruner, Voncile Jackson, Annie Justice, and Virginia Walters.
