His parents, Jackson Arnold Barnett and Maxine Swansburg Barnett have preceded him in death. First and foremost, Johnny Barnett was an example of Christian love. Around the age of 20 years, he was ordained to preach the Gospel by the Gospel Missions Association. He lived a life reflective of his calling. Johnny had a servant’s heart. He was always ready to help. He would go that extra mile. From offering a heartfelt smile or handshake to giving you a place to sleep in his home, he demonstrated his love for people. Johnny was a member of The Potter’s House congregation. He not only ministered locally but participated in many mission trips to Central America, Mexico and other locations. Johnny would say he could, “fix anything, including a broken heart”. Mr. Barnett was a talented auto mechanic. He could repair anything. He loved to make people smile. He said he never met an ugly woman. He would tell all women they were beautiful, and (in some cases) he knew God would forgive the little fib. The second love in the life of Johnny Barnett was his family. He grew up 1 of 8 children. Each member of his family knew they were dearly loved by their brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He and his wife, Isabel, were married 23 years. He was caring and involved in his family’s lives. A blessing to those around him and the center of a large loving family, Johnny Barnett will be missed by his large family and many, many friends.
