John B. Rogers, Jr., 80, of Bainbridge, GA and Donalsonville, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Medley officiating and will conclude in the church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . John was born June 22, 1933 in Dillon, SC, the son of John Bensell Rogers and Lily Kate Jones Rogers. He was a graduate of Conway High School, Class of 1951, and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany. He was the plant engineer from 1969 - 1999 at Amoco Fabrics and later Shaw Industries. Mr. Rogers was a member of First Baptist Church and Coronaca Masonic Lodge. He was a very active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. Survivors include his wife, Saundra Hill Rogers of Donalsonville, GA; his daughters, Joye Rogers McIntire and her husband, John, of Manassas, VA and Jeannie Rogers and her husband J. T. Morgan of Alexandria, VA; his stepchildren, Fan H. Matthews and her husband, Glen, of Bainbridge, GA, Eddie Hill and his wife, Melba, of Donalsonville, GA, Randy Hill of Bainbridge, GA, and Deon H. Tucker and her husband, Jim, of Alma, GA; his sisters, Charlotte Floyd of Conway, SC and Rose Switzer of Plano, TX; and his grandchildren, Connor McIntire and Lincoln Morgan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Belva Jean Rogers; and his brothers, Adrian Rogers and Paul Rogers.
