John Spivey

Mr. John Henry Spivey, Jr., age 83, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017, at his home in Cairo, Georgia. A service honoring Mr. Spivey will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Kenyon Memorial S.D.A. Church in Thomasville, Georgia. Pastor James Millo is the church pastor and Pastor Sam Ball will be officiating. John Henry Spivey, Jr. was born Jan. 12, 1933 in Cairo, Georgia to John Henry Spivey and Verse Elizabeth Cumba Spivey. He proudly served in, and retired from, the United States Army. John Spivey had a keen mind and strong beliefs. He was a founding member of Kenyon Memorial S.D.A. Church. He had a quick wit. Mr. John Henry Spivey, Jr. will be sorely missed by his many friends and the family he loved so very much. Mr. Spivey is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Garrette, Jane Marie Spivey, and John H. Spivey, III, all of Cairo; grandchildren, Jeremy Charles Hankinson and wife, Felicia of Lake Park, Georgia and Nicole Faith Gilpin-Spivey of Cairo; great-grandchild, Nora Elyse Hankinson; and sisters, Peggy Joiner and Shirley Gaskins, both of Ochlocknee, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Spivey and Verse Elizabeth Cumba Spivey, and his wife, Rosemary Fisher Spivey.
