Johnny Jones

Johnny Jones, 76, of the Bethany Community near Brinson, GA, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2008 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Phillips and Rev. Tommy Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with A.J. Braswell, Bud Nelson, Steve Dunn, Newton Cloud, Lorene Johnson and Don Gambrell serving as active pallbearers and the men of Fellowship Baptist Church and Dr. Charles O. Walker serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 19, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Shotwell St., Bainbridge, GA 39817 or to a charity of one's choice. Mr. Jones was born October 24, 1931 in Decatur County, GA, the son of John Riley Jones and Corene Oliver Jones. He was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School and served in the United States Army. Mr. Jones and his family established and operated the Pond House Restaurant in 1989, retiring in 2001, when his son continued the family business. He was a charter member and Deacon of Fellowship Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Marjorie S. Jones of Brinson, GA; two sons, Stephen and Regenia Jones of Lake Seminole, GA and Sammy Jones of Lee County, GA; his sister, Joyce Durham of Houston, TX; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
