Johnny R. Kendrick, 76, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Piland and Pastor Ed Harrell officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Lane Rich, J. B. Kendrick, James McDowel, Ronnie Lightsey, Joel Hughes, Lawrence Culverson, John Wayne Harrell, and Zack Calhoun serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2012, prior to the funeral service at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Kendrick was born June 9, 1936 in Climax, GA, the son of James Rutherford Kendrick and El Nora Mobley Kendrick. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1956. After graduation, he joined the Navy in June 1956 and was stationed in Tacoma, Washington. Then he joined the Pacific Reserve Fleet and was stationed aboard the USS Navasota A0 106 sailing out of Long Beach, CA. He married Molly Maige Kendrick on June 26, 1960. He was employed at Belk Simpson, South West Georgia Oil Company as a field representative, Pepsi Cola Bottling Company as warehouse manager, and was self-employed in landscape management. Mr. Kendrick enjoyed hunting, fishing, bottle collecting, landscaping and gardening. He also enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and Little League Football. Mr. Kendrick was active in the Jaycees, serving as the vice president and was on the board of directors for 10 years. He earned the Jaycees Man of the Year Award and was Chairman of the Kids Fishing Rodeo. He was an ordained deacon for New Fountainhead Baptist Church and was a charter member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Molly Maige Kendrick of Bainbridge, GA; his son, Joey D. Kendrick and his wife, Michelle, of Tallahassee, FL; his daughter, Brenda Kendrick O'Hearn and her husband, Ricky, of Donalsonville, GA; his son-in-law, Karl Pritzl of Tallahassee, FL; his sister, Carolyne Kendrick Taylor and her husband, Denny, of Smyrna, TN; his brother-in-law, Louis Maige and his wife, Angela, of Tallahassee, FL; his grandchildren, Mark Pritzl of Tallahassee, FL, Reid O'Hearn of Donalsonville, GA, Rylan O'Hearn of Donalsonville, GA, and Ethan Kendrick of Tallahassee, FL. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Kendrick Pritzl; and his brother, William Clayton Kendrick.
