Funeral services for Johnny Lee "Buddy" Purvis, Jr., 47, of Climax, GA will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Cox - Ware Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rawleigh Furney officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with C.J. Purvis, Brad Clemmons, Joey Stogner, Will Rosario, Joel Jenkins and Bobby Mills serving as active pallbearers. Mr. Purvis was born in Largo, FL the son of Julia Ann Peak Cooper of Bainbridge and the now late Johnny Lee Purvis, Sr. He has lived in Decatur County for the past eight years moving from North Carolina. Buddy was self employed as a Fugitive Recovery Agent. He was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, mud bogging and loved his family. He was a member of the Black Jack Volunteer Fire Department and the Desperados Motorcycle Club. Mr. Purvis passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. He is survived by his wife of twenty six years Marylynn Strouth Purvis of Climax, GA; one son C.J. Carpenter Purvis and fiancé Sarah of Anderson Creek, NC; one daughter Nicole Purvis of Black Jack; mother, Julia Ann Cooper of Bainbridge, GA; three sisters Debi McDow and husband Harold of Weekiwachee Springs, FL, Karen Barfield and Becky Purvis both of Baingbridge; one brother Brad Purvis also of Bainbridge; four grandchildren Eve, Natalie, Austin and Brooke; nieces Patricia, Priscilla, Stephanie and Amaris; nephew Josh. He is preceded in death by his father.
