Mr. Johnny P. Sims, 59, of Tampa, FL passed away Friday, March 23, 2007 in Temple Terrace, FL. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2007 at Lake Carroll Baptist Church in Tampa, FL. The graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Brinson Cemetery in Brinson, GA with Dr. Danny Shepard officiating. Johnny was born June 10, 1947, in Blakely, GA, to the late W. C. "Goat" Sims and Lorraine Hodges Sims. He grew up in Brinson, GA and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1965 and from the University of South Florida. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, air traffic controller, real estate broker, and the owner of Sims Irrigation. He was a member of the Gaucho Association, a golfer of some repute, and once held the honorary title of Alcalde of Ybor City. Well known in the Tampa area and life of the party, Johnny had a great since of humor and loved entertaining his friends and family. He loved country music and lived life to the fullest, like there was no tomorrow and never had any regrets. Survivors include his wife, Janice Griffin Sims of Tampa, FL; three children, Leigh Sims, Scott Sims, and Eric Sims, all of Tampa, FL; two stepsons, Barry Webb of Helena, AL and Cory Webb of Destin, FL; and his faithful dog, Catfish.
