Mr. Joseph Shelton Spooner, age 74, of Donalsonville, Georgia (Lake Seminole) passed away at his home on May 12, 2026. Mr. Spooner was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on September 2, 1951, to his parents, Joseph Calvin Spooner and Mary Emma (Mollie) King Spooner. Shelton lived as far west as Jakin and as far east as Bainbridge in his lifetime. He loved to fish and had a few special places to drop his hook. He fished from Kennedy Creek below Bristol, Florida, to Lake Seminole, Spring Creek, or Lake Geneva, Alabama. Shelton loved to watch Westerns and Star Trek on television but never watched sports.

Shelton Spooner is survived by his wife, Donna Olivent Spooner; children, Michelle Herring, Heather Steen (Jesse), and Christy Johnson; sister, Amy Jo Mingledorf; grandchildren, Jackson Herring, Abigail Herring, and Jessa Steen. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Dr. Rick Mingledorf.

Shelton asked to not have a public service, but the family would like to greet friends and family on Friday, May 15, 5:00-7:00 pm, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home.
