Joy Davis

Joy Denise Davis, age 73, passed away Tuesday morning, September 29, 2026, at her home in Leary, Georgia. Service plans will be announced later.

Joy Denise Baker was born January 8, 1953, in Bainbridge, Georgia to William (Bill) E. Baker and Eva Ruth Hinton Baker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Drew Davis. Joy worked hard. She worked for about 15 years in the medical field as an LPN. Later, she drove a bus for the Decatur County School System and sat with the elderly and sick in the evening. She was so caring and loving. She loved and tried to help everyone around her. The neighborhood children treated her as a grandparent. She loved everybody and treated everyone with equality and respect. For a long time she bred Schnauzers. She adored her dogs. Nature called to Joy. She loved being outside, watching the birds, working with plants, or watching the change of seasons. Joy so loved her family, the blood kin and the family she gathered from her neighborhood. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bainbridge. She lived every day for the Lord and worked daily to serve Him. Joy Davis will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Joy is survived by her children, Drew Davis (Amanda) of Camilla, Georgia and Stephanie Morrell (Lucas) of Pelham, Georgia; Joy's grandchildren. Robin, Caydon, Braylee, and Allie: her sisters, Edna Ruth Kennedy and Edna's children, Scott and Sybil, of Spring Hill, Florida and Julie Marie Guzman (Joe) and her children, Jordon, Joshua, and William and Julie's grandchildren, Mallory, Micah, and Kalianna. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother-in-law, Melvin Kennedy.
