J. Quinton "J.Q." Mills, 97, of Pelham, GA, and formerly of Whigham passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 at his residence. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Harrell and Rev. James Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Old Mars Hill Cemetery with James Knight, James Mills, Tim Mills, Hal Mills, Greg Arline, Chris Godwin, Jason Knight and Johnny Knight serving as active pallbearers. Mr. Mills was born October 30, 1910 in Decatur County, GA, the son of Thomas Clifford Mills and Mary Jane Brock Mills. He was a retired farmer, served as Justice of the Peace for 12 years, and a member of Salem Baptist Church where her served as a Deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Harrell Mills and his son, Hubert Mills. Survivors include two sons, James W. Mills and his wife Doris of Gainesville, GA and Jack H. Mills and his wife Susan of Donalsonville, GA; two daughters, Dorothy M. Dean and her husband Sam of Bainbridge, GA and Carolyn M. Arline and her husband Hollis of Whigham, GA; two sisters, Frances Maples of Bainbridge, GA and Mary Bell Dollar of Los Gatos, CA; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
