J.R. Lambert

J.R. Lambert, 79, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Friday, April 26, 2019. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Climax Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Poppell and Rev. Steve Brooks officiating.  Interment will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Garrett Lambert, Tate Lambert, Dillon Casteel, John Parker, David Hand and Shannon Brock serving as active pallbearers.  Jimmy Dickson, Tommy Dollar, Jack Leverett, Charlie Rozier, Johnny Skipper and Tommy Wheeler will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Ivey Funeral Home. J.R. Lambert was born August 19, 1939 in Bainbridge, GA, the youngest son of Vince and Myrtle Gainous Lambert.  J.R. was a member of Climax Baptist Church. He married the love of his life, Donna, in August of 1984.  He spent his working days as a farmer starting in the late 50's until his retirement in 1998. J.R. could talk the horns off a billy goat and never met a stranger.  His sense of humor usually meant there was never a dull moment when you were with him.  Specialty fly fishing was J.R.'s favorite past time with dove and quail hunting a close second. Known as "Big Daddy" by all his grandchildren, whom he especially loved and adored. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Donna Hand Lambert; his children, Teresa McMillan, and her husband, Greg, of Bainbridge, Aaron Goodman and his wife, April, of Branford, FL, and Jay Lambert and his wife, Mikki, also of Bainbridge; his siblings, Betty L. Parker, and her husband, Johnson, Harold Lambert, and Wayne Lambert, and his wife, Pee Wee, all of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Garrett, Tate, Dillon, Sara, Anna Beth, Ashley and Brooke, and Douglas and Kayla; and his great-grandchild, Collins.  In addition to his parents, J.R. was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Goodman.
