Mrs. Julia Ann Peak Cooper, age 73, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Memorial Hospital, Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Cooper will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. Rev. Rawleigh Furney will be officiating. Interment will follow in Jonas Lobe Cemetery. Amaris Terry, Josh McDow, Johnny Purvis, Deon Lowe, Tony Showman, and Anthony Wimberly will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Julia Ann Peak was born August 11, 1943, in Clearwater, Florida, to Oneal Peak and Willie G. Griggs Peak. She was a talented cook and cake decorator. Julia knitted and crocheted and shared those talents by teaching others. Mainly and mostly, Julia Cooper was about family. She loved every visit from her children or grandchildren. She enjoyed family reunions. Julia will be dearly missed by the large family and many friends she loved so very much. Julia Cooper is survived by her husband, Henry Lee Cooper of Bainbridge; children, Debora McDow (Harold) of Weekiwachee, Florida, Karen Cook (Cheryl) of Bainbridge, Rebecca Terry (Maris) of Bainbridge, and Bradley Purvis of Bainbridge; brothers, Norman Peak (Diane) of Crawfordville, Florida and Rayburn Peak (Louise) of Climax, Georgia; grandchildren, Patricia Purvis, Priscilla Sellers, Nicole Purvis, Stephanie Barfield, Amaris Terry, Josh McDow, Aiden Cook, and Kimora Purvis; and lots of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Lee Purvis, Sr., son, Johnny Lee Purvis, Jr., and sister, Patsy Ruth Stogner.
