Mrs. Katherine Ellen Schafer Wilson, age 86 of Appleton, WI, passed away at the Parkside Care Center in Little Chute, WI on May 13, 2010. Mrs. Wilson was born March 28, 1924 in Henry, IL the daughter of William and Louise Mary Engelbrecht Schafer. She was a care giver to elderly people most of her life. Mrs. Wilson enjoyed collecting and organizing things. She believed that caring and serving others would bring her closer to God. She was grateful for her health and the life she has lived with her grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson loved her family and knew how to prepare herself for the needs in life; the ups and downs of life; the struggles she had as a child all of which she managed to overcome and why she is the woman we all know today. Some of her favorite sayings were "You better be good, you never know who is watching" , and "You better listen and be good" . She was preceded in death by her parents William and Louise Mary Engelbrecht Schafer; a half brother Edward Francis Schmidt and a half sister Cecelia Ann Schmidt Schuller. Family visitation will be Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 10:30 to 11:30 at the Wichmann-Fargo Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Survivors include three sons Roger E. Wilson of Climax, Georgia, Alan L. Wilson of Menasha, Wisconsin and Rodney G. Wilson of Appleton, Wisconsin; a brother Harold Joseph Schafer of Waupaca,Wisconsin and a half sister Dorothy Jeanne Schmidt Eckhoff of Nashville, Tennessee. Mrs. Wilson had 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
