Kathryn May Tyre, affectionately known as Katie by all who loved her, left us peacefully on the morning of September 13, 2025, in Spring, Texas, at the age of 75.
Katie was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and grew up as the fourth child of the late Felton Henry and Bessie Kirbo Williams. She grew up in her beloved hometown of Vada Georgia, where she attended and graduated Bainbridge High School Class of 1968..
Katie was a loving and devoted mother to her four children, and she enjoyed hosting and entertaining for friends and family in her home. She was a voracious reader, writer, and student of God’s word, and a diligent seeker of truth. She was also a very talented and articulate teacher, who homeschooled her children for many years, along with teaching them many life skills and spiritual truths. She furthered her giftedness for teaching through writing original study compilations, and leading numerous Bible study classes for many years. Her deep love and desire for writing and teaching compelled her to author a book, which is currently in the publishing process. Along with her many passions and talents, Katie was also a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating her own business in Texas for 21 years.
Katie is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Felton and Bessie Kirbo Williams; and siblings, Sylvia Miller, Tommy Williams, and Maxie Nutt. Katie is survived by her brother, D.W. (Wayne) Williams and his wife Lynette; and sister, Janna Miller; four children, Maria King, Charlie Tyre, Tammy Arulappan, and Timothy Tyre; six grandchildren, Kayla Heinrichs, Meagan Penz, Ashlyn Tyre, Josiah Tyre, Daniel King, and Avie Tyre; and one great-granddaughter, Oakleigh Tyre. She is also survived by many loving and beloved nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 10am, with funeral service to follow at 11am, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 5008 Vada Road, Climax, Ga, 39834. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
