Larry Dale Harrison

February 12, 1935 — October 24, 2025

Mr. Larry Dale Harrison, age 90, of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025, at Archbold Living Care in Cairo, Georgia. Services for Mr. Harrison will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 1, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Larry will be privately interred beside his wife, Wylene, in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Larry Dale Harrison was born February 12, 1935, in Cairo, Georgia, to Avin McNair and Norene King Harrison. He was a graduate of Cairo High School. After high school, he married the love of his life, Wylene Ouzts. Larry proudly served in the United States Army and then came home to Bainbridge, working as a mechanic. He was very, very talented in auto mechanic work. After working for a while for the local Chevrolet dealership as the Service Department Manager, he and Wylene opened a service station and garage. In 1970, they opened Larry Harrison’s Auto Service. He worked on every type car, for more people than can be counted, until they closed in 2010. He was smart, dependable, and kind. Larry enjoyed building/rebuilding cars, trucks, go-carts, and tractors for racing and, most of the time, he was the driver for the races. He also began building airplanes in a building behind his home. He loved flying. They purchased an airstrip near Climax, Georgia and enjoyed having others fly into his airport. He and Wylene enjoyed square dancing and enjoyed traveling. They were deeply devoted to each other, together all the time, but still enjoyed each other’s company enough to dance in the kitchen. After over 70 years of marriage, Wylene passed away on May 26, 2024. Larry was a member of Calvery Baptist Church. Larry Harrison was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a caring brother and great friend to many, many people. Larry will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Larry Dale Harrison is survived by his daughter, Tracey Lynn Midler (Danny Wiggins) of Mexico Beach, Florida; grandchildren, James Weaver, III (Jonna) of Cairo, DeAnn Ansley (John) of Ochlocknee, Georgia, Michael Midler (Hillary) of Thomasville, Georgia, and Rachael Bell (Bob) of Madison, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Rivka Weaver, Siska Weaver, Leila Weaver, Joel Ansley, Maddie Ansley, Chance Ansley, Christian Ansley, Abe Bell, Josie Midler, and Winnie Bell; brother, Mac Harrison (Patricia) of Donalsonville, Georgia; son-in-law, Jim Weaver (Kerry) of Climax, Georgia; sister-in-law, Betty Ouzts of Cairo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
