Laverne Collins

Funeral services for Mrs. Laverne Whitaker Collins, age 84 of Bainbridge, will be held Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Shepard and Pastor Stanley Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Todd and Chad Dean, Heath and Brandon Boyett, Bruce Henderson and Frank Stimpson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Cox - Ware Funeral Home. Mrs. Collins was born in Baker County the daughter of the now late Ernest and Maude Whitaker. She later married Bloise Collins who passed away in 1996. She was a kitchen supervisor for the Bainbridge State Hospital where she retired after twenty five years and was a greeter for Kmart. Mrs. Collins was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, loved her church, sewing, gardening, baking, family and grandchildren and church activities. Mrs. Collins passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. She is survived by two daughters Rudean Dean and husband Otis and Rita Boyett and husband Jerry all of Bainbridge; one son Jimmy Collins and wife Patsy of Albany, GA; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Don Collins and one sister Guy Henry and one brother Garnie Whitaker.
