Laverne Powell Laslie, 85, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Eldorendo Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas P. Long officiating. Interment will follow at Eldorendo Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Laslie was born September 13, 1924 in Baker County, GA, the daughter of Dewey Powell and Rossie Phillips Powell. She was a retired housekeeping supervisor with Bainbridge State Hospital and a member of Eldorendo Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, James Akridge of Mesa, AZ, Gerald Franklin of Bainbridge, GA, and Ronnie Franklin of Eldorendo, GA; two daughters, Justine Taylor and Billie June Turner, both of Tallahassee, FL; two brothers, Huey Powell of Bainbridge, GA and Robert Lee Powell of Albany, GA; a sister, Ann Goodson of Lake City, FL; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
