Mr. Lee Drew, age 72, of Cairo, Georgia, passed away early Sunday, November 8, 2015, at Golden Living in Thomasville, Georgia. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Pine Level Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Dan Gainous, Russell Collins, Ronald Johnson, Phillip Drew, Steve Gainous, Jeff Clark, Barry Gainous, and Leon Gainous will serve as pallbearers. Doc Gainous, Roger Gainous, Sr., Roger Gainous, Jr., Mike Gainous, Lee Harrison, Rodney Phillips, and the Spares Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00. Lee Alton Drew was born May 1, 1943 in Cairo, Georgia, to Lee Roy Drew, Sr. and Thelma Whitfield Drew. He was married to his sweetheart of 48 years, Margaret Collins Drew. Lee worked at Wight's Nursery for many, many years. He also worked for Drew Oil. He was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church. Lee Drew enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved to work in his yard. He loved people and greatly enjoyed sitting at Wal Mart and people watching. He loved hosting fish fries and took any excuse to be surrounded by the family he loved so very much. Lee Drew will be sorely missed by a multitude of family and friends. Lee is survived by his wife, Margaret Collins Drew of Cairo; son, Marty Drew and wife, Sue of Shorewood, Illinois; daughter, Suzanne Willis and Brian Kestel of Cairo; grandchildren, Jordan Willis (the light of his life) of Cairo and Billy Pearce and wife, Lindsay of Whigham, Georgia; great-granddaughter, Jolee Pearce of Whigham; sister, Carolyn Oates of Powder Springs, Georgia; brother-in-law, Wade Dyches of Cairo; sister-in-laws, Maxine Drew and Sylvia Collins, of Cairo; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hoyett and Linda Collins of Nashville, Tennessee; faithful companions, Wispy and Henry; and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Drew was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lee Drew, Sr.; brothers and sister, Roy "Buddy" Drew, Jr., Howard Drew, and Faye Dyches; brother-in-law, Edwin "Ed" Oates; and nephew, Eddie Oates. In honor of Mr. Drew, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund, Pine Level Baptist Church, 298 Pine Level Road, Cairo, Georgia 39827; The American Cancer Society, 507 West Third Street, Suite 4, Albany, Georgia 31701; or the charity of your choice.
