Leland Wayne "Buddy" Johnson, 59, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Faceville Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Sylvania Cemetery with Billy Fee, Sean Neel, Matt Neel, Eric Sekula, Richard Mixon, and Tom Sekula serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Buddy Johnson was born July 28, 1951 in Quincy, FL. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1971, and a member of Sylvania United Methodist Church. He retired from Florida State Hospital with 35 years of service as a turbine operator and supervisor. He worked hard all of his life and was a heavy equipment operator for many years, doing all types of work for his friends and contractors. He enjoyed his farm and working with his cattle. Buddy was an avid outdoors man and shared hunting and fishing with his family. He loved history, especially military history, and was a proud supporter of our troops. Survivors include his son, Daniel Johnson of Bainbridge, GA; his daughters, Cristy Johnson of Bainbridge, GA, Rita Johnson Sekula and her husband, Eric, of Bainbridge, GA, and Rene Tucker of Glennville, GA; his father, Leland O. Johnson of Bainbridge, GA; his mother, Annie Laurie Hodge and her husband, William, of Chattahoochee, FL; his sister, Carmen Barfoot of Sneads, FL; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tanya Louise Johnson, and his wife, Cindy Tucker Johnson.
