Leland O. Johnson, 90, of the Faceville Community near Bainbridge, GA, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Faceville Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Johns officiating and will conclude at the church. Interment will be held at Sylvania Cemetery with his grandsons serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Johnson was born July 10, 1922 in Decatur County, GA, the son of Morgan Outler Johnson and Susie Howell Johnson. He retired from the Florida State Hospital in the power plant where he was a turbine operator for over 33 years and has farmed his entire life. Mr. Johnson was a member of Sylvania United Methodist Church and attended Faceville Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Carmen Hope Barfoot of Sneads, FL and Kathy Wray of Faceville, GA; his brother, Turkey Johnson and his wife, Sarah, of Faceville, GA; his sister, Irma Barber of Faceville, GA; and his grandchildren, Sean Neel, Shannon Neel, Dawn Loge, Patrick Barfoot, Cristy Johnson, Rita Sekula, Daniel Johnson, Rene Tucker, Sherry Bundy, Lisa Brady, Kevin Brady, Michael Weeks, William Wray and, Karen Steere; his 15 great-grandchildren; and his 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Minnie M. Johnson; his son, Leland Wayne "Buddy" Johnson; his brother, Wayne Johnson; and his infant granddaughter, Tanya Louise Johnson.
