Leon Brown

Leon Jackson (Jackie) Brown, age 82, passed away on January 29, 2024 at the Jackson County Hospital in Marianna, Florida. A memorial service will be held on February 14, 2024 at 10:00 at Grace Community Baptist Church in Bainbridge, Georgia.         Mr. Brown was born on April 21,1941 in Decatur County to the late Obie and Annie Lee Crum Brown.  He and his wife, the former Janie Lee Hawthorne, were married for 55 years. He served in the United States Army and was retired from the Florida State Hospital as a fireman for 33 years.  Jackie was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.  He enjoyed spending time and in his garden.  He loved his “babies”, his grandbabies as well as his extended family.  Jackie was a member of the Grace Community Baptist Church.  Jackie will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.       Leon Jackson Brown is survived by his wife, Janie Lee Brown; his children, Obie Brown (Felicia), Paul Brown (Julie), Andy Brown and April Brown.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Abigail Brown, Hunter Brown, and Jessica Brown as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Jackie was predeceased by his parents, his son, Joey Brown, and his siblings, Owen Brown, Obie Lee Brown, Gordon Brown, Sara Frances Durden, and Randall Brown.        On-line condolences may be sent at  www.Coxfuneral.net ( http://www.coxfuneral.net/ ).  Cox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
