Leonard Crafton Dean, 76, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, GA. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 at Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Brian Justice, Kyle Dean, Don Stallings, Al Brock, Tony Fields, and Jason Varnum serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 12, 2008 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Alan Davis, 180 Davis Rd., Bainbridge, GA 39817. Mr. Dean was born March 28, 1932 in Decatur County, GA, the son of William Riley Dean and Anna Belle Lodge Dean. He served in the U. S. Army and was a retired farmer. He was an Elder of Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church near Cairo, GA. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Brandon Dean, Allison Dean and Brandy Dean. Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Margie Faircloth Dean of Bainbridge, GA; three sons, Tim Dean and his wife Jennifer, Leonard Dean and his wife Cindy, and Greg Dean and his wife Tammy, all of Bainbridge, GA; three daughters, Rita Henderson and her husband David of Parkton, NC, Debbie Doss of Red Springs, NC, and Sharon Gee and her husband John of Pelham, GA; two sisters, Jeanette Martin and her husband Wayne of Tallahassee, FL, and Christine Pollock of Bainbridge, GA; eleven grandchildren, Stacy Varnum, Monica Williams, MarCharia Randels, Amy Fields, Carla Pelayo, Madison Dean, Kyle Dean, Breanna Dean, Brian Justice, Aubrey Justice and John Austin Gee; five great-grandchildren, Daniel Varnum, Bryan Varnum, Kaitlyn Williams, Madalyn Pelayo and Claire Pelayo; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Dean and Fannie Boutwell, both of Bainbridge, GA.
