Leonard Dean

Mr. Leonard (Floyd) Dean, age 86, passed away on September 7, 2023, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Shelva (Jean) White. They shared 65 years of marriage together. He was born in Bainbridge, Georgia to Earl and Inez Floyd Dean on January 9, 1937. Floyd was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. He worked for many years as General Manager of The Post Searchlight and later at Deerin Printing before enjoying his retirement. He was a member of Faceville Baptist Church where he served many years as a Sunday School teacher and as a deacon. He often served as a lay speaker in several area churches. He enjoyed wood working and golfing. Floyd will be remembered for his hugs and humor. He is survived by his wife, Jean, his brother, Ronnie Dean of The Villages, FL, his daughter Debbie (Jimmy) Elkins of Bainbridge, granddaughter Sharon (Dale) Mitchell of Fairburn, GA, grandson Dean (Becky) Elkins of Bainbridge. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren, Hali Mitchell, Thomas Mitchell, Zindel Elkins, and Everett Elkins. A memorial service will be held at Faceville Baptist Church on Thursday, September 14, at 2:00 p.m., immediately followed by visitation. The Rev. Robert Johns will officiate.
