Lorene Mathis Brown, age 76, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019, at her home in Donalsonville, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Bainbridge, GA. Rev. Slade Alday will officiate. Lorene was born March 8, 1943 in Colquitt, Georgia. Her parents, George Washington Mathis and Liza Mae Merritt Mathis, have preceded her in death. Lorene loved to cook. She was a talented seamstress. She had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her flowers. She was nurturing in every way. She loved and cared for animals, plants, her friends, and family. She was called the "community mother" . Lorene Brown will be deeply missed by her many friends and loving family. Lorene Mathis Brown is survived by her children, Deana Smith (Colby Atkinson) of Donalsonville, GA, R. L. Hunter (Robin) of Greenwood, FL., and Jack Hunter (Rhonda) of Bronson, FL.; sisters and brothers, Wylene Warren of Colquitt, GA, Eloise Brown of St. Augustine, FL., Vernon Mathis (Ann) of Brinson, GA., George Washington Mathis, Jr. (Cheryl) of Eastpoint, FL., Thomas Harlow (Carissa) of Greenwood, Fl.; grandchildren, Cameron Cogland, Russell Lee Hunter, Jr. (Ashley), Rielly Cogland, Valerie Nieto, Tonia Cogland, Zachary Hunter (Katie), Steven Dismuke, McKaylin Hunter, Alyssa Creamer, Grayson Creamer, Jackie Diane Tillman, Michael Warren Hunter, and Regina Lynn Hunter; great-grandchildren, Nathan Hunter, Alexis Hunter, Kylie Hunter, Dakota Hunter, Zachary Hunter, Jace Hunter, and Braydon Barwick. She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 siblings, and daughter, Stacy Dismuke.
