Mrs. Mae Nell Bell Elver, age 89, passed away at her home in Cairo, Georgia on February 22, 2024. Services for Mrs. Elver will be held on Saturday, February 24, 3:00 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church in Cairo, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Elver was born on October 17, 1934 to Lonnie Eugene Bell and Effie Lou Barlow Bell of Grady County. She married Charles Elver who preceded her in death in 2007. She was a very active member of Midway Baptist Church until her health failed her. Mae Nell was a member of the Young at Heart group at the church and never missed a chance to travel with them. She loved to read a good book and playing cards with her ladies. She had quite a talent for quilting, was an excellent cook, and always enjoyed baking. She loved to be outdoors with her chickens and growing things in her garden. Blue grass music was her favorite. Mae Nell was a volunteer at the Help Agency and got great pleasure from helping others as well as her friends and neighbors. She was a very hard worker who will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Mrs. Elver is survived by her children Becky Pearson (Willie) and Bobbie Chason (Ronnie);her brother, Ronnie Gene Bell (Glenda); her grandchildren Crystal Cook, Joey Dollar (Sharon), and Tamara Dollar( Tommy); her great-grandchildren Madison Abbott (Grayson Johnson) and Peyton Abbott. She is also survived by her nieces Phi Aita Fields, Pola Astar Carter, and Phella Aavita Young and her nephew, Pyron Arkais Carter. Mae Nell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sisters Bessie Mae Atkinson and Pearl Johnson.
