Mark Greene

Mark A. Greene, Sr., 64, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Messer officiating. A private interment will be held at Oak City Cemetery with Jared Fiveash, Josh Gross, Kevin Dodson, Bryan Dodson, Phil Yates and Joe Yates serving as active pallbearers. Mark Anthony Greene was born January 15, 1955 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of William Olin Greene and Mavis Louise Yates Greene. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1973. He married Marsha Morrell and they made their home in Seminole County. Mark worked with GA Department of Corrections until his retirement. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Mark was a simple man choosing to be at home, at the farm or watching the Georgia Bulldogs play ball. He loved to ride dirt roads and believed you were speeding at 55 mph. Even though he enjoyed a slower pace, he was always on time. Mark was honest, even in difficult times, and encouraging. He would remind you when you are at the bottom "the only way to go is up". Mark was fiercely loyal and loved his family more than anything. His favorite title was "Pop Pop" and the grandchildren certainly knew it. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marsha M. Greene; his children, Tony & Keri Greene of Colquitt, GA and Megan & Lance Avera of Donalsonville, GA; and his grandchildren, Mara, T.J. and Madi. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Greene.
