Mary Anchors

Mary L. Anchors, age 82, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at her home in Bainbridge. The family will receive friends for a time of memorial and reflection, 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Mary Lucille Carter was born May 23, 1930 in Valdosta, Georgia, to Dorsey Lee Carter and Evelyn Willis Carter. Lucy graduated from the Georgia Academy for the Blind. She was a past president of the Georgia Council for the Blind. Lucy married Alvah Wynne Anchors, who preceded her in death. She was retired from the Georgia Industries of the Blind and a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church. Lucy Anchors is survived by her children, Verlyne Lucille Taylor of Bainbridge, Mary Garcia of Ashville, North Carolina, and Tuwana Crosby of Bainbridge; brother, Albert Carter of Valdosta; grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Crosby, Tyler Sivan Chapman, Christion Lamar Smith, Justino Roberto Ordaz, and Anna Marie Ordaz; and 4 great-grandchildren.
