Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Berwanger, age 57 of Bainbridge, GA will be held Monday, February 2, 2009 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Medley officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Jon Powell, Dr. Shaun Smith, Mark Nobles, Brad Pyatt, Jim Hedgpath and George Graham serving as active pallbearers. The Sarah's Faith Sunday School Class will serve in an honorary position. Mrs. Berwanger was born in Monahans, TX the daughter of the now late Percy J. and Katherine Vaughn Willamson. She graduated in 1970 from Central High School. Following high school, she attended Angelo State University until 1974. She was a homemaker living in Decatur County since 2004. Mary and Ralph have lived in Japan, Alaska, Texas, California, Maryland and other parts of the country due to Ralph's military career. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Sarah's Faith Sunday School class. She was also very active during her children's activities, was a foster mom, loved to sew and even made some silk jockey clothing for the jockeys in the Preakness. She graduated with honors from Bainbridge College in 2008 She is survived by her husband of 35 years Ralph Berwanger of Bainbridge; two daughters Rebecca Anne (husband Dr. Shaun) Smith of Columbus, OH and Nichole Marie (husband Jon) Powell of Louisville, KY; two sons David Bryan Berwanger of Ft. Wayne, IN and Elijah Allen Berwanger of Bainbridge; two brothers Gary Wayne Williamson of Austin, TX and Richard Kyle Williamson of Abilene, TX; five grandchildren Geoff Smith, Andy Smith, Mary Claire Smith, Noah Powell and Allison Powell.
