Mrs. Mary Lou Newsome, 91, of Climax, GA, passed away Friday, February 15, 2008 at Memorial Manor Nursing Home in Bainbridge, GA. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Climax Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Poppell and Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Dewayne Culverson, Ricky Musgrove, Jerry Heard, Tommy Heath, Kerry Dean, Maurice Wynn, Gary King and Butch Mosley serving as active pallbearers. Mrs. Newsome was born October 31, 1916 in Etowah County, AL, the daughter of Sam Richard Hollaway and Mae Reeves. She retired from Jack Winter's as a seamstress and was a member of the Climax Baptist Church. Mrs. Newsome was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Newsome, two brothers, Louie Hollaway and Curtis Hollaway; two sisters, Hazel Scarborough and Jeanette Holly; and three grandchildren, Sharon Newsome, Sylvia Newsome and Brian Newsome. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Carolyn Newsome, Jr. of Cairo, GA and Sam R. and Linda Newsome of Bainbridge, GA; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeanette and Bobby Eidson of Cairo, GA, Faye and Kenneth Herring of Brinson, GA and Shirley Newsome of Tallahassee, FL; two sisters, Gladys Bishop of Whigham, GA and Betty Hester of Bainbridge, GA; five grandchildren, Marsha Duvall, Julie Poppell, Leigh Hunter, Shane Allen and Sam Newsome and six great-grandchildren.
