Mrs. Mary Alice Lanier Pittman, 83, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen L. Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Blakely City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m with Rev. Richard A.Turner officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, June 5, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mary Alice was born July 20, 1925 in Early County, GA, the daughter of Carl Hamilton Lanier and Ella Clemmie Loyless Lanier. She was a graduate of Damascus High School, attended Georgia Southwestern College and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances L. Billings and Catherine L. Clark, her brother, Carl Hamilton Lanier, Jr., and a grandson, Joseph Ashley Pittman. Survivors include her husband, Willis R. Pittman of Bainbridge, GA; her daughter, Jennifer Pittman of Bainbridge, GA; her son, Robert L. Pittman and his wife Marianna of Jacksonville, Fl; and four grandchildren, David Pittman of Manhattan, KS, Andrew Pittman and Amanda Pittman of Alpharetta, GA, and Caroline Pittman of Jacksonville, FL.
