Mary Gillespie Poitevint, 93, of Faceville, GA, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020. A private graveside service will be held at Cool Springs Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on a later date when it is safe for family and friends to gather due to recent circumstances. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mary Bell Gillespie Poitevint was born January 31, 1927 in Whigham, GA, the daughter of Graton Cosmo Gillespie and Mary Alta Edwards Gillespie. She was a graduate of Cairo High School. Mary married Eddie Cleveland Poitevint in 1946 and they made their home in Faceville, Georgia. She was a member of Faceville Baptist Church. Precious memories were made when she spent time with her family.  Whether she and her siblings were gathering to celebrate a birthday, or if she was filling her kitchen table full of "Grandma food", the love and laughter was contagious.  She was our Sunshine.  Mary loved going to church, reading the Bible, working in her beautiful yard, cooking for neighbors in the community, and was known county wide for her beautiful collection of daylilies. Survivors include her son, Roger Poitevint and his wife, Jan, of Escanaba, MI; her grandchildren, Beth & Mike Lee, Amy Poitevint, Brian & Kelly Poitevint, and Adam & Dani Poitevint; and her great-grandchildren, Megan Lee, Stacy Lee, Austin Poitevint, Evan Poitevint, Dylan Poitevint, Chase Poitevint and Shyla Poitevint. She is also survived by her siblings, Hilton Gillespie, Loette Buerger and Emily Sue Hickey.  In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Cleveland Poitevint; her son, William Stacy Poitevint; her brothers, Darwin Edwards, Gerald Gillespie, William Gillespie, Earl Gillespie, M.L. Forehand and Ronald Forehand; sisters, Evelyn Eubanks, Dorothy Turner, Louise Weiss and Callie Farrow; and her step-mother Blanche Gillespie.
