Mary Timmons

Mary Brunson Timmons, 99, of Bainbridge, GA, and formerly of Blakely, GA passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Memorial Manor Nursing Home. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Blakely, GA with Dr. Charles Devane officiating. Interment will be held at Blakely Cemetery. Mrs. Timmons was born July 22, 1910 in Early County, GA, the daughter of John Swann Brunson and Pearl Landrum Brunson. She was a Homemaker and graduate of Blakely Union High School. Mrs. Timmons was a Dorm Director for several colleges in Georgia, retiring with over twenty years of service, including Georgia College and State University (formerly Georgia State College for Women) for over seven years. Mrs. Timmons participated with the Governor's Honors Program in Macon in 1974 at Wesleyan College and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blakely. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Lee Timmons and her daughter, Betty Timmons Apgar. Survivors include her son, Jackson Lee "Buddy" Timmons, Jr. of Blakely, Ga ; her daugther, Evelyn T. Knight of Bainbridge, GA; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
