Funeral Services for Mrs. Mattie Lou Bynum Palmer Ament, 74, of Bainbridge, GA will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 1:00 PM EST at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with President Ryan Cleveland and Bro. Stan Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Hill in Dothan, AL at 3:30 PM EST, with Kenneth Hull, Ken Hall, Alan Hall, Nelson Alvarez, Scott Tennant, Bud Tillman, and Cody Hyler serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM EST at Cox-Ware Funeral Home. Mrs. Ament was born January 7, 1934 in Dothan, AL to the now late Alvin D. and Lossie Mae Ready Bynum. She was married to the now late George L. Palmer and then to the now late Robert K. "Bob" Ament. She was the former owner/operator of Palmer Fish Camp in Eufala, AL and Ye Olde Lodge Restaurant in Plymoth, NC. She loved quilting, cooking, gardening, antique dealing, and Vintage button collecting and has a secret BBQ recipe. She has lived in Decatur County for the past 21 years moving from Delray Beach, FL and was a member on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. Ament passed away Friday, October 31, 2008 at her daughters residence in Columbus, GA. She is survived by 2 daughters; Virginia "Ginny" Tew of Manchester, NH and Melinda P. (Husband Kenneth) Hull of Columbus, GA; 3 sisters, Eleanor Heard and Janice Hayes both of Brinson, GA and Frances Alvarez of Bainbridge, GA; 3 grandchildren, Hillary Palmer, Jennifer D. Tew, and Kelly Waisnor-Tew; and 2 great-grandchildren, Asa Waisner-Tew and Lily Gallacher. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and one brother, James "Bozzy" Bynum.
