Mattie Hester-Day

Mrs. Mattie Lee Hester Day, age 79, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home. Services for Mrs. Day will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012, at 3:30 p.m., at New Home Freewill Baptist Church #2, in Decatur County, Georgia. Rev. Nathan Fowler will officiate. Interment will follow in New Home Cemetery. Danny Harrell, Rory Nesmith, Shawn Clements, Ronnie Gandy, Sam Harrell, and Tim Harrell will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kelvin Harrell and Davin Harrell. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 12, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge. Mattie was born January 31, 1933 to the late Willie and Clifford Lee Green Hester. On August 7, 1954 she married Willis "Buck" Day, who preceded her in death, September 10, 2002. Mattie Day is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Day Royal and Mike of Baconton, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Day and Sheila of Tallahassee, Florida; granddaughters, Jammie Nesmith and husband, Rory of Pelham, Jessica Gandy and husband, Ronnie of Whigham, Georgia, Jaclyn Clements and husband, Shawn of Camilla, Georgia;step-grandson, Michael Royal and wife, April and step-granddaughter, Jordan Royal, all of Adel, Georgia; brother, Willie Hester, Jr. and wife, Phyllis of Haines City, Florida; sister, Dorothy Lewis of Cairo; great-grandchildren, Ty and Trhett Gandy of Whigham, Dylannie and Dane Nesmith of Pelham, Levi and Liam Clements of Camilla;and step- great granddaughter, Madison Bell of Adel. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Charlie Hester; and sisters, Joyce Flythe and Lois Fleetwood.
