Melton Mclendon

Melton McLendon, 67, of Climax, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Milton Harrison and Rev. Tim Harrell officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Dennis Boatwright, Scott McLendon, Blake McLendon, Travis McLendon, Bruce McLendon and Billy Cross serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday, July 31, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. McLendon was born June 3, 1942 in Decatur County, the son of Joe Tom McLendon and Rebecca Pauline Loyless McLendon. He was a welder and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Cross McLendon of the Vada Community; his son, Steve McLendon of Bainbridge, GA; his daughter, Melissa Reynolds and her companion Dawn Richardson of Brinson, GA; several brothers and sisters; six grandchildren, Naomi, Scott, Blake and Clay McLendon and Davey and Dustin Reynolds; and one great-grandson, Eli McLendon.
