Melvin Cottles

Melvin Cottles, 63, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Friday, September 3, 2010 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donna Bevels officiating. Interment will be held at Oak City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Ivey Funeral Home, prior to the funeral service. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Melvin was born July 17, 1947 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Frank Houseman Cottles and Lois Marie Carroll Cottles. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1965 and attended Georgia Southern University. Melvin worked with American General Life Insurance Company and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Smith Cottles, W.H. "Billy" Cottles and Frank Cottles; and his sister, Carol Oglesby. Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Judy Cottles of Bainbridge, GA; his daughter, Brandi Brogdon and her husband Rusty of Climax, GA; his brother, David Cottles and his wife Sandra of Bainbridge, GA; three grandchildren, Carley Brogdon, Chloe Brogdon and Walker Brogdon, all of Climax, GA and several nieces and nephews.
