Funeral Services for Mrs. Merle S. Carr age 61, of Bainbridge, GA will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Cox-Ware Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gerald Horne officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Terry Smith, Dale Smith, Guy Yates, Marty Brown, Marty Guy, and Robbie Smith serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Cox-Ware Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Carr was born to the now late Elic and Dorothy Ezell Smith October 29, 1948 in Bainbridge, GA. She was a beautician and a long time caregiver of her mother. She helped raise her grandchildren and was the best mother in the world, always checking on her children and grandchildren and willing to help her family. She always wanted to be a problem solver. She owned Hales Landing Bait and Tackle for a short time and was a lifelong resident of Decatur County. She was a member of Colquitt Church of God. Mrs. Carr passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Archbold Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Douglas Carr of Bainbridge, GA; one daughter, Sherry Renee Yates of Bainbridge, GA; two sons, Randall Craig (wife Lisa Michelle) Carr of Bainbridge, GA and Michael Douglas (wife Lisa Ann) Carr of Cairo, GA; one sister, Wanda Slaughter of Thomasville, GA; two brothers, Terry Don Smith of Thomasville, GA and Alex Lamar Smith of Bainbridge, GA; seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
