Mrs. Merle Whiddon Whigham, 90, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2007 in Sylva, NC. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gordon Van Namee officiating. A private graveside service will follow at Sylvania Cemetery near Faceville, GA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home. Mrs. Whigham was born January 16, 1917 in Decatur County, GA, the daughter of Tigner Whiddon and Cynthia Spear Whiddon. She was a homemaker and a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Havana, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin O. Whigham; her children, Leon Whigham Terry Whigham, and Annette W. Burns; a brother, Roy Whiddon; a sister, Sarah W. Parker; and a granddaughter, Ginger A. Burns. Survivors include 7 grandchildren, Sherry B. Wilson, Jim Burns, Robert Whigham, Freddie Whigham, and Tajhia Whigham, all of Sylva, NC, Brett Whigham of Fishers, IN, and Lani Whigham of Tallahassee, FL; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
