Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Dorothy Cottle Duke, 87, of Eldorendo, GA will be held Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Eldorendo Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Long and Bro. Jerry Harrell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Michael Duke, Kyle Duke, Colin Duke, Alan Duke, Gregory Duke, and Caleb Duke serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held immediately following the service at the church. Mrs. Duke was born November 1, 1922 in Albany, GA to the now late Augustus C. and Ona V. Franklin Cottle. She was raised in Decatur County and lived there until moving to Florida to marry Ralph Duke May 7, 1947. She moved around Georgia with her husbands work until their retirement in 1983 when they moved back to Decatur County. She worked at Miller Hydro and The Post Searchlight in Bainbridge, GA and Florida Gravel in Gadsden County, FL. She was a member of the WMU at Eldorendo Baptist Church, a hospice volunteer, a homemaker for most of her married life, and loved spending weekends fishing on Lake Seminole. Mrs. Duke passed away Monday, April 5, 2010 at Bainbridge Health Care. She is survived by one son, Dr. Edwin Duke of Eldorendo, GA; one brother-in-law C.W. (wife Mary) Duke of Wilkinson County, GA; two sisters-in-law, Judith M. Duke of Faceville, GA and Judy Duke Howell of Tallahassee, FL; her life long friend Mrs. Margaret Griffin of Bainbridge, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caregivers from Bainbridge Health Care including Christy Register Washington. Mrs. Duke was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Ralph in 1996.
