Mildred H. "Honey" Jenkins, 84, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017.The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C.O. Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery.The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.Mildred Daphene Henry was born April 3, 1933 in Colquitt, GA, the daughter of John William Henry and Myrtle Widner Henry. Mildred graduated from Miller County High School and retired from ITT as a supervisor. Mildred, better known as "Honey", married the love of her life, Samuel "Sam" Arthur Jenkins, in 1951. She was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God for over 50 years.Honey had a servant's heart. She was active in the church she loved so dearly. She served in many capacities including as the church secretary, the Sunday School secretary (for over 30 years), a women's ministry leader and a sectional leader. Honey raised a passel of children in our community and enjoyed every minute of her babysitting job. She can be credited with spoiling her grandchildren and great-grands.Survivors include her children, Cynthia Jenkins Conyers, Sammy Jenkins and his wife, Yvonne, all of Bainbridge; Beth Shirley and her husband, Glenn, of Blackshear, GA, and Lori Morrow and her husband, Mitchell, of Wicksburg, AL; her siblings, Edith Harris of Donalsonville, GA, Elizabeth Goodson of Rome, GA, and Sherwood Henry and his wife, Pat, of Bainbridge; her seven grandchildren; and her twelve great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Arthur "Sam" Jenkins; her parents; and her siblings, Alton Henry, Pauline Norris, Jean Burgess, Barbara Kelley, Jackie Gordon and Linda Freeman.The Jenkins Family would like to extend special appreciation to Dr. Sydney Cochran, Kindred Hospice Staff and the staff of Memorial Manor for their kindness and compassion.
