Mitchell Burke

Mitchell Burke, age 59, of Colquitt, GA, passed away Thursday August 19, 2021. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Stanley Phillips and Reverend Robert Johns officiating. A visitation will follow services. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mitchell was born June 22, 1962 in Donalsonville, GA, the son of Edna Sue and C.W. Burke.  Mitchell started his peanut career in 1980 at Seminole Peanut Company (later became Cargill Peanut Company) and continued working with them until 2000.  He was a Quality Control & Seed Manager during this time.  He worked at Cellular One in Bainbridge from 2000-2003.  He was a Chief Operations Officer from 2003-2018 at American Peanut Growers.  Mitchell loved Georgia Bulldog Football, hunting, and fishing. Survivors include his sons, Zachary Mitchell Burke and his wife Abby of Pell City, AL and Matthew Aaron Burke of Bainbridge, GA; his sister, Debbie Burke Cox of Colquitt, GA; his brother, Tim Burke and his wife Tonya of Recovery, GA; his grandchildren, Carter Aaron Burke and Emma Katherine Burke; and his dog, Gage. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Russ Burke; and by his brother-in-law, Nicky Cox.
