Mollie Griffin

Mollie Heard Griffin, 95, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Shepard officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with her grandsons serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mrs. Griffin was born September 15, 1912 in Baker County, GA, the daughter of George Washington Heard and Ida Moore Heard. She was a retired dietician at Georgia Factory for the Blind and nurse's aid at Bainbridge State Hospital. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harvey Griffin, a son, W. F. "Bill" Griffin, and a granddaughter, Gloria June Jackson. Survivors include two daughters, Lillian Griffin of Bainbridge, GA, and Vivian Ledbetter of Mossy Head, FL; a sister, Eva Causey of Brinson, GA; 7 grandchildren, James Griffin, Janice G. Sims, Linda G. Brown, Dexter Griffin, Stuart Griffin, Gene Ledbetter, and Lowell Griffin; 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
