Muriel Hoffman Thomas, 98, of Jacksonville, FL and formerly of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, FL. The graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Sylvania Cemetery with Mrs. Kay C. Mayton officiating. Muriel was born February 21, 1912 in Gordon, AL, the daughter of Frank Cecil Hoffman and Sarah Florence Dawsey Hoffman. She was a proficient gardener even into her late 90's, volunteered in numerous capacities at Westminister Woods, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Sylvania United Methodist Church while living at Lake Seminole near Bainbridge and was a member of Fruit Cove Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Bruce Carroll Thomas; a daughter, Carolyn Howard; and a son-in-law, Bill Howard. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Armbruster and her husband David of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; four grandchildren, Sherri Stratton and her husband Robert, Bill Howard and his wife Angie, Terri Shubrick and her husband John, and Lance Armbruster and his wife Kelly; and seven great-grandchildren.
