Mr. Murry Perry Hughes, age 89, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021, at his home in Climax, Georgia. Services for Mr. Hughes will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00. Murry Perry Hughes was born August 22, 1932, in Climax, to Marvin Henry Hughes and Mattie Ella Perry Hughes. He and the love of his life, Flora Nell Boyett Hughes have been married 70 years. Murry retired from Engelhard (BASF) after 36 years of work. Murry was of the Advent Christian faith. He was a member and served as a deacon at Moore’s Chapel Second Advent Christian Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses. Murry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved fox hunting and raised beagles. Murry Hughes loved his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and many, many friends. Murry Perry Hughes is survived by his wife, Flora Nell Hughes of Climax; children, Diane Hughes Powell (Greg) of Bainbridge and Thomas Murry Hughes of Climax; grandchildren. Jennifer Harrell (Bobby), Michael Stephens, Lance Powell, Ryan Powell (Kelly), Chrystal Hughes Cannon (Mark), Carson Hughes, and Kevin Hughes; and great-grandchildren, Dalton Harrell, Colton Harrell, Madison Cannon, Daniel Cannon, Gunner Powell, Maeson Powell, Kellan Powell, Waylon Powell, and Claire Powell.
