Mrs. Myrtice "Lanelle" Hogg Cox age 83, "Mama Cox" as she was known by her grandchildren and many friends passed away early Tuesday morning February 25, 2014 at Willson Hospice House in Albany, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Fellowship Baptist Church on Tommy Hooks Road in Americus with Rev. Wendy Peacock and Dr. David Kitchens officiating burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers Steve Elrod, Easton Kinnebrew IV, Robert Davis, Mark Meadows, Mike Stanley and Michael Stanley. The family will receive friends at Aldridge Funeral Services Wednesday evening February 26, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Cox was born January 18, 1931 in Richland, Ga. the daughter of the late Charlie Hogg and Myrtice Jenkins Hogg. On July 18, 1948 she married the late Dock Millard Cox. She worked for 20 years at Manhattan Shirt Company formerly of Americus and then 28 years as a bookkeeper for Dock's Saw Shop. She was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church and also Woodmen of the World Lodge 202 "Mama Cox" loved to read, play the piano, work in her flower and vegetable gardens and sew. She loved the outdoors and walked every day. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mrs. Cox is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Terri Elrod [Steve] of Bainbridge, Ga. Tammy Stanley [Mike] of Perry, Ga. two sisters Alice Bolstridge of Americus, Ga. and Pat Warmack of Mississippi. Also surviving five grandchildren, Stephanie Kinnebrew [Easton] of Americus, Ga. Samantha Elrod of Bainbridge, Ga. Therese Stanley,Veronica Stanley and Michael Stanley all of Perry, Ga. three great grandchildren, Amelia Kinnebrew of Americus, Ga. Easton Hulme Kinnebrew V [Kinney] of Americus, Ga. and Walker Allen of Bainbridge, Ga. Also surviving is a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dock Millard Cox in 2006, two sisters, Betty Kelley and Sandra Weaver, three brothers Charlie Hogg, Jr. Cline Hogg and Buddy Hogg. Flowers are welcomed, but Memorials may be made in Mrs. Cox's memory to Fellowship Baptist Church P.O. Box 1122 Americus, Ga. 31709.
