Myrtle B. Johnson, 94, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Friday, July 27, 2012. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Gregg officiating, and will conclude at the chapel. Interment will be at Sylvania Cemetery. Zack Parsons, Brandon Whittaker, Sean Johnson, Ronnie Smith, Greg Murray, and Dale Murray will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2012, prior to the funeral service at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mrs. Johnson was born April 8, 1918 in Early County, GA, the daughter of Lam B. Burton and Annie Lou George Burton. She was a graduate of Faceville High School and owned and operated Johnson's Store with her husband for 40 years. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Sylvania United Methodist Church and WMU. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, working in the yard, and fishing. Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Johnson and his wife, Susan, of Bainbridge, GA and David Johnson and his wife, Catherine, of Bainbridge, GA; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Johnson of Bainbridge, GA; her sister-in-law, Mary Burton of Bainbridge, GA; her grandchildren, Sean Johnson and his wife, Mandy, of Monroe, GA, Carah Johnson Whittaker and her husband, Brandon, of Bainbridge, GA, and Abby Johnson Parsons and her husband, Zack of Bainbridge, GA; her great-granddaughter, Colbie Cate Whittaker; and her special care givers, Shonda Tolbert, Marsha Evans, and Jeannette Pendleton. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Luther Johnson and her son, Gary Lynn Johnson.
