Nell Bernier

Nell R. Bernier, 82, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015.The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Medley and Rev. Lynn Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Trey White, Rick McClelland, Allen Thomas, Joe Todd, Trey Byrd, and John Thomas serving as active pallbearers.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.Nell was born December 22, 1932 in Meigs, GA, the daughter of John Mercer Roberts and Norma Ree West Roberts. She was a graduate of Meigs High School and retired from Bainbridge State Hospital with 28 years of service. Nell was a selfless person, always thinking of others and doing little things to show she cared. She enjoyed playing cards and gardening. Her favorite pastime was cooking and she loved a good cookbook. She was best known for her sweets especially cookies and homemade cinnamon rolls. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Al Bernier; her children and their families, Tommy Bernier of Climax, GA, Patty, Alex & Trey Byrd and Sullivan; Janet McClelland of Brandon, FL, Richard, Brittany, Rick and Jini McClelland; Denise Deal of Cairo, GA, Billy, Trey White and Jennifer White, Brandy and John Graham and Julianna and Alithia Graham; her siblings, Herman Roberts and Nannette of Meigs and Martha Ann Hines of Bainbridge. Nell was preceded in death by her sister, Selma Thomas.
